Christ it was like something out of the apprentice, questions fired from all angles from 2 people, honestly it was the hardest one ive done so far.

But im not sure about it. Im not sure if its for me for one thing, and i have heard not so great reports about the manager there and dont want to go into a job i hate again. Also i applied for the perminant position, theres another to cover maternity leave, but they told me my position is still only for 6 months to cover sickness of someone else, we were going move soon after but couldnt do that as the position isnt guarenteed and if it wasnt id have lost out on the next college course i would have done.

I need to think about this, they said they would get back to me by the end of the week.

Mmmm

Hmm, well done for doing the interview though Cat smile. And have a think about it. Mesure out the pro’s and con’s of taking the position and then also with doing the college course too.

Do you have to give an immediate answer at the end of the week or are you able to get back to them?

Good luck with all the thinking.

they said they were interviewing all week and would get back to me with an outcome at the end of the week or beginning of next week. So if they are interested in me i need to know what to do really. Ive got a gut instinct at the moment, and its not great.

I would say go with your instinct with this one if it feels wrong you don’t want to end up feeling miserable, I know how hard it is when you really want a stable job but can’t find anything for toffee I am in that position myself but it’s just as bad really being stuck in a job you may not like.

When do you start on your next college course surely as it’s as an admin related they should release you. Should being the definitive word.

Yes well my worry is, my mum in law does charity work for the surgery there & goes to all the meetings, she says alot of staff seem to leave regually, then she helped out one day and said that “she couldnt work with that manager” as she had a bit of a short temper. So i wasnt going to apply. But my mum in law said “maybe thats just me, apply for it and go to the interview and see”. But i didnt warm to the manager either, although the other deputy seemed ok. With the temporary label on the position too im thinking its a ‘no’ so far on my initial thoughts.

I had bad management in my last job and dont want a repeat again. as you say i want to settle in something and move on in life badly but i shouldnt let this cloud my judgement and make another mistake.

My college course starts beginning of sept, thru to may/june time next year.

Have you ever really liked a manager, though? All managers are horrible. raspberry Just kidding..but, you know.

Good luck in whatever you decide you want. smile

Silly people - They should stick with what they write. It must be frustrating when you prepare and its not even what you expected!

What course are you possibly doing at college?

They advertised 2 jobs in the paper, 1 was for a full time medical receptionist and the 2nd one was medical receptionist to cover maternity leave. So to me thats obvious that one of them will be temp.

The college course is Diploma in Medical secretrial course. Its not exactly what i want to do in life but it could be a decent move to make as there is not alot of choice around here. The hospital often picks out people from the course by phoning the college to employ too.

It seems like it could be a good course to do then. Especially if you are ‘almost’ garanteed a spot.  Whats your OH’s view on all this?

He’s mostly game on the idea of me doing a course. I think he wants me to get the best posible job i can (for the area) because he knows he wont always be as well paid as he is at the moment as his families business wont always be going in the future.

I felt a bit down about the possibility of moving being put back for yet another year and was worried about the house that will probably be in the pipeline for us soon. But my mum in law says not to worry they’ll sort something out (!?). Other than that a nice pay packed would have been nice but..

But as far as i can see i think i’ll be going ahead with the course. The college and the hospital work quite closely together aparently and its not uncommon for them to phone up asking if they have anyone interested in a job, part of the course involves work exp which sometimes results in perminant jobs for a lucky few.
