My son has rescued an English bulldog (female) he’s had her a couple of weeks and I and OH have met her so my dogs have noticed her smell on us when we came home.
Then yesterday my son bought his dog here first he let the dogs sniff each other through the fence then he let Kayleigh into the garden.
At first she just sniffed but being a bulldog she has a short palette/nose and its all grunts and growly type noises.
Mine 3 just did not know what to make of her, Remy headed indoors and took shelter in the kennel Benny ran and jumped up onto the soafa and Oscar was left to deal with the stranger!
He sniffed her a bit and she went for him, he ducked back and ignored her looking to me for guidence. Then she came into the house and my 3 did thier best to avoid her but she twice more struck out at Oscar ( he is my dominante dog although they are all male).
I felt sorry for my three but considering they are not the most gentle or quiet dogs Im proud of the fact that they didnt gang up on her which they could quite easily have done.
I think her behaviour was defensive because she was in a new fairly confined surrounding with 3 male dogs so Im arranging a new meeting later in the week this time in the park so they have loads of space and it will be neutral territory for all 4 of them.
Fingers crossed it goes better this time.
