well update..

im still on the course lol. doing lots of revision. On my half term break at the moment which is very nice (even if i am down with the flu)!

Ive tried to stop looking too far ahead and getting stressed. actaully what helps is knowing that we have two of the exams comming up shortly. the medical terminology at the beginning of january and another one called medical principles this december, that means two large chunks of the course will be done and dusted and out of the way. Getting to grips with the terminology slowly & have been told that to get a ‘pass’ you need to pass with 50% correct answers, so im hoping that i will at least manage to get 50% right.

hi sunshine

small world. you doing the AMSPAR course? (includes the administration/medical principles/terminology?)

i agree about the spelling, and i think that will be my downfall. we have been given some past exam papers to look at, i seem fine with saying what terminology means when its down infront of me, but struggle to do so the other way around(ie-giving the terminology for something). Alot of abreviations are on the last page too- i dont know many of them.

I,m doing an access to nursing course but the lecturer teaches medical secretary’s too, think your course will be way harder than mine! I managed to get a medical abreviations pocketcard from amazon and I,ve been testing out my spelling by just concentrating on 10 words at a time till I,ve got them. this sounds sad but it works for me, I have laminated A4 sheets with all my study notes on every kitchen cupboard!! inside and out lol..I also have an absolutely massive anatomy poster on the wall of all the body systems. I,m hoping if I see it all the time I will pick the information up without even realising smile)

i have a friend who has not long passed her nursing degree, and she says that as secretaries we seem to have to learn far more in the wat or abreviations/terminology than she had to! lol. CRAZY!
