Corrie is currently running a story line about a character, (sally) who has discovered she has breast cancer. A similar story line ran on eastenders a few years back with peggy mitchell.

Do you think it is a good idea for soaps to run stories like this? I think most of them try to handle it in a sensitive way, and try to show viewers the kind of emotion that someone who really was suffering, would go through.

If this kind of thing raises awareness of this terrible disease and encourages women to check themselves every month, I say it’s a good thing. What do you think?

I think it’s a good thing not just raise awareness but I think it could help people who are also going through this too have a soap character they can identify with.

Besides it reflects real life, ok probably not the best argument it is a soap after all but cancer is something that effects many peoples lives, less so than serial killers and explosion anyway.
