Off to Berlin on the 6th nov. We are there for a week.We will visit the Mohne Dam made famous by the Dambusters., then onto Berlin for the celebrations of the 20th anniversary coming down. OH was there in 1961 when it went up so he was there when history was being made. We then go to Leipzig to visit the offices and museum of the east german special police Stasi as they were called.
Hope the ferry crossings are calm.

Had a fabulous time. We were in berlin on monday for the celebrations.I expect a lot of people saw the whole thing on the TV. The “domino” effect of the wall coming down was the work of school children. They decorated the blocks with pictures and sayings, eg, “make love not walls” Couldn’t get too close to the brandenburgh gate due to security, but we were close enough! The atmosphere was amazing. I should have some photos by monday so I’ll see how they come out.

I saw the Berlin Wall celebrations on TV, those blocks were incredible! :D

It’s incredible that it came down a few months after I was born!

Hope your holiday was as amazing as it sounds! Would love to see some pics if you’re willing to share :D

Hi majorcagirl,

how are your impressions from Berlin? I hope you had a great time and the people have appeared from their best side.

I live in Berlin. But I must admit, that I didn’t notice much from the celebrations here, which was perhaps down to the fact that I live more outside town.  red face  So I’m curious to see your pics.

Nice to have you again with us..... smile

these are some of the photos from Berlin
1. checkpoint charlie, the most famous checkpoint of the wall. The soldiers are actors..
2 The cells are underground in the Stasi (secret police) headquarters. They are really terrible, you have to remember they were used till 20yrs. ago.
3 Brandenburg gate. Couldn’t get too close due to security.
4 Reichstag. wonderful building rebuilt after the war.
Apologies if I’ve got the last two round the wrong way, taken me all my time to remember how to do it!!!!!!!!

You should be able to just upload the photos without resizing them, majorcagirl. At the moment they are very small indeed!

You don’t need to use other services like tinypic - just upload them into your post where it says ‘Attachments’. See how that works.
