Ive been watching “kirsties home made christmas” on channel four. for enyone who hasnt watched it, part of what she was doing is bringing presents back to basics.

Does anyone else thing presents have got boring?, kids want computer games, they sit infront of them playing them, then theyre finished / done with and thats that.

In my day we had hours of fun & love from a teddy bear - and that would carry on for years (infact for me...30 years!).

I think children should be introduced back to toys, something to phyically play with and cherish!

I remember one year we were skint. OH was unemployed and so he made both the boys stilts.
No one else in the village had them and I was the only one who knew how to walk on them so I taught my boys on christmas day how to use them ( we had a huge barn type garage then) in turn they taught their friends and the whole christmas holidays there was a barn load of kids having daily stilt walking relay races and obstical courses.

Great fun.. yes bring back proper toys.

i always wanted one of those al a carte kitchens the kids had on wheels but my dad couldnt afford it, i think we used to have a £30 limit on presents for each other (i guess it went further than it does nowadays though). in the end my dad made me one out of strong cardboard(&Painted;), it had an oven, a hob, a breakfast bar etc etc, i had all my pots and pans, the onlything missing were wheels, but i loved it!!!

I agree and dont see the appeal in jus reciving games, I used to love lego gifts as a child and given half the chance I still would.

I do think just buying a snazzy new game can be the easy option, or something else thats on a disk. This year I made another little home made gift for the adults in my family and a toy or book for the kids.
