Hi There, although not as severe as some cases, my daughter also had this phycosis, she suffered from post-partum depression that didn’t go away, for awhile she was being treated with an anti-depressant but found it wasn’t helping, after seeing a phyciatric nurse and a phyco-therapist they determined she was bi-polar.They took her off the anti-depressants and started her on a mood stabilizer, and there is much improvement. She says she even feels alot different and better. She just has the one child, her family doctor advised her that it would most likely re-occur and possibly be worse if she should have another baby, needless to say that is not something she wants to go through again. Alot of things can go on when you have a baby, sometimes its not all bliss at first, but glad to hear you to are feeling better, now you can start enjoying your little one.

We’ve actually published an article on this very subject - and it was written by Souxi; one of our members:

I hope this helps.

I hadn’t seen that article before Martin, and it was imformative ,Souxi it was really well written. My daughter is also a nurse, she works in Palliative Care,so it is very sad and stressful for her as far as patients outcomes are concerned. She knew something wasn’t right after her baby and was able to get help right away, she’s not 100%, but shes come a long way.I guess in this day and age we’re fortunate that doctors are now more aware of these problems that can come with having a baby, and not so quick to brush them off, you wonder how they did it in times gone by,the “Pioneer Days”.They had to have suffered this same thing. Those poor women!Even probably today in the third world countries they are not likely getting the help they need either.Makes me wonder why some women bounce back and other don’t.

Thank you Kamille. I enjoyed writing it. It’s actually one of 3 I’ve written so far. I am about halfway through another one. It’s just that what with one thing and another lately, I havn’t got round to finishing it, but I will. smile

I’m glad to hear your daughter is getting better. In days gone by, I don’t think there was as much help for this kind of thing as there is today. Women were simply expected to “get on with it”. Thankfully that is not the case these days. There is a lot of help out there for women who suffer like this. I sincerely hope your daughter feels 100% soon. Let us know how she gets on. Maybe she could join Female herself? We’d love to meet her. smile
