After attending an interview nearly 2 weeks ago now I was offered the job and promised I would be notified in the next few days via the agency about start dates; they then told they had a few internal matters to get sorted before I could start which was not a problem.

This job was arranged thru an agency and i contacted them late last week to find out whats going on, I was informed by the agency that I was not to worry the job was 110% mine and i had received excellent feedback which put my mind at rest but she did admit to the company not responding to her calls or emails.

Nearly a week later I still have heard nothing I don’t know were I stand at all does it sound like they have changed their minds which is odd as the company seemed stable and professional not the sort to just do that.

hope if they have changed there minds they would let me know i dot know what to think now

Can you go straight to the company? and say what you have told us? and ask if everything is ok?.

Otherwise keep harrassing the agency i would!

Kezflake,Depending on what kind of internal matters, it might be something that is needing their immediate attention,myself I would give it a couple of more days and inquire again.You do wonder though whats up with the emails and phone calls not being returned,maybe there’s something major going on that is keeping them extremely busy. They may also be the type of company that takes a few weeks to get things going,checking resumes,references etc… you hate to be a pain or sound desperate by calling, but the only thing to do would be to keep checking,and maybe the agency you are going thru will have more information for you.Don’t give up hope,keep your fingers crossed.

That is very frustrating. Perhaps you should continue looking for other jobs just to have a backup in case this falls through? If you take that course of action, use a different agency - and make sure your existing one knows it.

They don’t want to lose their commission on placing you so are keen to keep you onboard - that being said, you can’t hang around for ever!

I have been in touch with both now, there was no one available to talk from the company itself and the woman dealing with my application from the agency is now on holiday with no one else handling her accounts, as they call them, hmmm.

I haven’t stopped looking thats for sure, I am registered with most of the local agencies in my area anyway, and Martin you make a good point about the commission.

I hope your right kamille, I am a natural born worrier at the best of times anyway .

What is wrong with people? could she(I’m just assuming its a she)not tell you that the other day when talking to her, she obviously knew she was going to be away, all she had to say was I’m going on vacation...I will be back at such and such time and will get back to you then with maybe a bit more information as to the job,instead she says nothing and leaves you hanging.What it boils down to is most people nowadays seem to have no common courtesy,she doesn’t care your chewing your nails or loosing sleep,all we are is just a number,an account or a voice on the other end of the phone,thats after you even get to speak to someone,Press 1,Press 2.

yay they got in touch, the company not the agency they have not been in touch since last email anyway I start on the 15th.
