Hi
I am creating a shop, on the east coast. And I am not sure about the brand name I want to give it.
As you may guess on the many mistakes when I write, english is not my other tong. I am french.
That’s why I need your advices about the name.
Tell me what that brand name evokes for you :
“FRENCH CAN”
I do not tell you what kind of products I will sell in that shop, because I want to have reactions just on the name.
What do you think it can be about? what do you think about when you ear that brand name ?
Thank you for all your answers smile

Sophie

How about “Sophie’s”? Otherwise, if there is something/someone who inspires you, think of a name associated with that inspiration. I hope this helps

“French Can” seems to stick with you, so use it. There’s nothing wrong with it. Good luck

Honestly, I just picture a can with blue and white stripes.

Incredibly odd I know, and I should know better having spent a while living there!

thank you both of you .
are you sure there is no play of words with this name ?
This is what I worry the most, because I am not able to detect it…

Well, it’s not precisely an English language thing, but in America ‘can’ means ‘toilet’. A slang term I’m afraid. Just so you’re aware.

It crossed my mind but thought nothing of it. More like “can” as in “I can”...empowerment?

When I think of can I think of trash can.

However when I see French Can, I visualize something similar to Paps response. I don’t know why either.

I have to say naming a brand is one of the hardest tasks.

What’s a French word that means empowerment?

Sorry, anything ending in ‘can’, makes me think of tin can. Which I associate as a cheap container.

However, French Can, also, for me, makes no sense whatsoever, so it is memorable, and a little fascinating as to what it means.

So, a mixed message from me, but I would go for it, memorable is the most important thing.

all your comments are very usefull to me.
I do not explain you the kind of shop it is , on purpose. I need to know what it does make you think about,  as an american or as an UK citizen smile
Both positive or negative feelings;
So your comments are precious to me smile)

Sophie, first, congratulations on your new venture. Secondly, the name needs to reflect the business, whether French or English. I happen to speak both languages and I am also a business woman, without knowing what you are selling, any suggestion is a shoot in the dark!
