Block Party Food Suggestions

We will be having a block party in June.  This is my first to attend and the first one for the street.  The even address numbers are to make something savory and the odd address numbers make something sweet.

I am and Even so Savory it is.

I was thinking of smokies in a blanket and smokies wrapped in bacon.

This way it would be a finger food.

But since I have never attended one I have no idea what is expected.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve never been to one as an adult, last one was when I was a kid so I don’t really remember the food. However what you suggested sounds great to me!!

If you wanted another idea you could do stuffed mushrooms?

Have you talked to other people with even numbers to see what they are doing? You could maybe get together and work out a menu between you.

It’s similar to the Christmas parties we used to have at work, in which a menu was loosly organised with everyone taking an item and bringing it. This worked quite well as, for instance, those who enjoyed cakemaking could provide nice cakes and those who had no such skills just bought their choice.

I love stuffed mushrooms and like that idea also.

I did send an email to the organizer and did not receive a reply.

I will speak to the neighbours and see what savory dishes they have planned.

Denise, Kiwi, Jen, KitKatKitty,

Same here, Kiwi, but I’m with what KitKatKitty said here.

I do love parties! I have thought about this and I think Pigs in a Blanket are always a big hit. You could also have small sandwiches and mini sausages. S’mores are always tasty, as are sugar cookies. You want finger food, really and a few treats. You don’t want people having to use knives and forks. Cheese cubes are also a treat. That’s my penny’s worth!

Thank you Kit.  Yes, I thought it should be finger food.  Since it has to be savory, I will do the Pigs in a Blanket.  I could always get little plastic shot glasses to put them in so they can add ketchup for dipping.

Cheese cubes would also work.

Thanks
