Baby Planners - Helping you Relax during Pregnancy and Beyond

baby plannersHaving a baby can be overwhelming and exciting all at the same time. When you’re pregnant, you’re bombarded with tons of information and questions that can be downright difficult to sort through. Many mums-to-be are looking for a little help and sanity saving when it comes to planning for the birth of their unborn baby. That’s where the baby planner comes in.

The baby planner can be far more than a sanity saver, though. A baby planner can be a number of things to any Mum. Regardless of your needs, here are a few ways a baby planner can help you make it through your pregnancy and into your baby’s toddler years.

Your Own Personal Time Saver

As a mum-to-be you could spend hours searching, trying to plan your baby’s nursery, the layette and even choosing the right bottles. A baby planner comes with the knowledge to cut down on searching for you by providing you with only the information you specify. If you only want to know about eco-friendly nappies, a baby planner can send you the information.

The goal of a baby planning service is to save you time and take the worry away from baby preparation. Not unlike a wedding planner, the baby planner can also recommend and handle some of the details of the impending birth. They are part assistant, part expert, and part consultant.

Unique Baby Planner Services

A baby planner doesn’t just tell you what items you need to buy, a baby planner can do everything from help decorate the nursery to filling out your baby registry for you. Many baby planners offer services that carry through your baby’s first years of life. Furthermore, if you need assistance when it comes to meal planning after baby comes or getting your parenting off on the right foot, a baby planner can help. It’s their job to help you care for your baby in terms of parenting classes and supplying you with simple and easy meal recipes that will help save you time in those first few sleep deprived weeks of your baby’s life.

The most common services asked for by pregnant women is assistance with the baby shower. If you’d like to be involved in the planning of your shower, but prefer a professional take over rather than your stuffy in-laws or childless friends, they can advise on activities, decorations, and even coordinate the food for your shower. Further, after the shower is over and you’re left to the task of organising the nursery, a baby planner can be at your side through the entire process.

Help in Times of Need

As frivolous as a baby planner may sound, for pregnant Mums who are laden with high risk pregnancies and are limited in their travel, movement, stress load, or even confined to bed rest, baby planners provide the support a mum-to-be needs when she needs it most. In addition to being a support system, a baby planner can do the shopping for you while you rest and attend to your body’s needs.

While it’s a new trend, it’s one that’s growing in popularity around the world. Having a baby planner by your side during your pregnancy can take the guesswork out of what to stock in the nursery, which paediatrician, doctor or midwife you should see, and they can even offer advice on how to help your baby sleep through the night once she or he has been born.

One thing to note is that depending on your location, a person may require little or no specialised training to be a baby planner. While it’s recommended that a baby planner should have training in child studies or health care training in paediatrics or child development, there doesn’t seem to be any formalised training. It’s also important to point out that not all baby planners provide the same services. Some planners provide assistance in registry and shower planning only while others can offer more detailed and personal services. For instance, if you are looking for someone to help guide you through breast feeding, a baby planner should either put you in contact with a lactation consultant or have a background in nursing or as a lactation consultant in order to assist you.

Most baby planners are mothers themselves who have spent countless hours planning their own pregnancies and raising children; it’s their desire to save other Mums’ time and sanity by providing solutions to questions and offering services that most new parents struggle through on their own. They have road tested thousands of products and services, either for themselves or their clients.

Parents should always check references before hiring anyone to help them plan this special time in their life. Be certain to ask exactly what services they will help you with and which ones they will refer you to a professional for before deciding on which baby planner is right for you and your baby.
