By having many important titles like Mum, wife, partner, CFO, chef, mediator, psychiatrist, on-call doctor, CEO, chauffeur, housekeeper and educator, taking care of your individual self-image naturally falls by the wayside. Either you notice a difference slowly, constantly or are hit by a brick.
The fact remains that you just don’t feel 100% right. Maybe you have a great career, job or hobby, or maybe you don’t. Maybe your relationship with your partner is great, or maybe it’s not. Maybe you have a great circle of friends, or maybe you don’t. All of these things may or may not make your life genuinely happy. Then you take a look at your outward appearance and you’re noticing that you don’t look the same as you did 5, 10, or even 20+ years ago thanks to the lovely dark under eye circles, crow’s feet, tummy flab or extra weight all around, and you’re wondering if you’ll ever get that good feeling back.
By focusing on improving how you feel, you will improve everything else in your life and getting your groove back will be easier than you think.
Michelle Brownlow, a sassy Mummy blogger of 4 kids, artist, former art teacher, author and freelance columnist, recently launched The Mom Show which is designed to confront real life happenings by giving advice and having fun at the same time. By visiting Michelle’s blog, you’ll see why you will laugh (a lot) and learn a lot with her.
Episode 2 of The Mom Show, titled Self Image 100-Day Challenge, was created to empower women of all ages with a secret tool in order to feel better about their self image, and to be the healthiest woman that their families know. What is the secret tool you may ask? Take a look.
You may be having one of those ‘Ah-ha!’ moments right about now. The secret in feeling good about yourself is blessing others with what you do best. Right! Go Michelle! By re-directing the negative feelings that you have and putting it toward helping others, you will not only change the way you feel about yourself but you will also be changing the lives of others.
Think about how you feel when your kids give you that extra hug at the end of the night, or how you were able to snuggle a bit more with one of your kids or how you helped an elderly woman carry a grocery bag out to her car or how you got in touch with an old friend. Don’t you feel good after these things happen? You don’t focus so much on how you think society perceives you; you focus on your own happiness, and the happiness that you’re spreading to strangers and your loved ones.
So you, yes you, are making the world a better place and feeling better at the same time. Additionally, you may uncover your hidden talents, which again, will only make you feel much better by adding an extra layer of confidence to your skin.
By laying out your goals and commitments for the next 100 days, you can turn your self-image around while also helping others. Maybe you need to stop saying ‘yes’ to everything, spend less time at the office, quit smoking, make more time for workout routines or spend more time with your family. Hone in on anything that you need to do to maximise changing your life – and set your own pace. Most of all, make it fun! You can even get your family and friends involved by creating a group – think of how many lives you’ll be affecting positively.
To register for the challenge, e-mail Michelle at michellebrownlow [at] yahoo [dot] com. You can register at any time, and also set an appropriate date for you to start your challenge.
The 100-day Self Image Challenge is a life altering way for women across the globe to remove the focus off of the outside and put it back on the inside where it belongs. Did you know that the women you see on TV are not even a fraction of the average population? Did you know that thanks to digital technology, the women in magazines are digitally enhanced? So don’t focus so much of your energy on what you think you need to look like. Instead, harness that energy in order to create a new and improved you.
Good luck on your journey, and be sure to let us know how you get on.
