It doesn’t matter if a woman is single or married - she has items in her wardrobe and in her home that make her life easier and help her stay organised and prepared for a number of situations and emergencies.
However, knowing what items you should own may be harder than it looks. With so many great products, accessories, and appliances, it can be tough to know what works the best for you and your lifestyle. The following is a list of staple items that can do everything from make you feel pampered to being more organised and ready to take on life’s twists and turns.
Comfortable Pair of Shoes
There is nothing like coming home and slipping on shoes that don’t pinch, rub, or make your toes and soles beg for mercy. Think about the kinds of shoes you already own. Do you have a favourite pair? Perhaps they are a fuzzy pair of slippers that you begin your mornings with. Even an old pair of running shoes can be the answer to your feet’s prayers.
Tool Box
A man won’t always be around to hang the nail on the wall or get the back off of some new gadget you just bought. Sooner or later you will need a hammer, screw driver or even a drill. Take the upper hand and get your own set of tools.
Likely you’ll want to include the necessities; hammer, screw drivers, a cordless drill. However, think about adding things such as wood glue, nails of various sizes, and measuring tape.
Jumper Cables
Imagine being stuck with a car that won’t start; you’re late for work and there’s no way you’ll make the train. Yes, life is like that sometimes. Having a set of jumper cables may keep you from being stranded somewhere.
Well Fitting Bra
A bra that fits you in all the right places can do more than lift your bosom; it can make you feel, as well as look, great. The right bra can add support where you need it and even give the illusion of having lost weight.
Little Black Dress
Every woman’s wardrobe should have a black dress. The little black dress can be worn for nearly every occasion and never goes out of style. You can dress it up for a night out or tailor it with a nice jacket or wrap for a more business look.
Good Jewellery
You don’t need an entire jewellery box filled with earrings, bracelets, or even rings. One or two classic items, say pearls and a set of diamond earrings or hoops, can dress up any outfit and take you from blah to glamour gal with little fuss.
Sunscreen
Good skin is Important for every woman. Toting a bottle of sunscreen will protect your skin from damage that can be caused from the sun. Even the winter environment can do damage. A sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 will give you an extra boost of protection.
Planner
Every busy woman needs a way to track her days. If you’re a Mum, a planner can help you organise your children’s schedules right down to the play date next week. With a planner you can add and subtract from your ‘to-do’ list as well. Many planners come with address books built in so you can jot down an important number before you forget it.
Cookbook
You may feel like Delia Smith or Martha Stewart in the kitchen but even those fabulous cooks had their favourite resources for whipping up a good dish. Cookbooks usually have resources in them such as a list of substitutions for those times when you run out of essential ingredients.
Set of China
You never know when you will be asked to host a dinner for friends or family. Even if you’re not a whiz in the kitchen, a set of china will make even take out look marvellous.
Quality Cookware
This goes without saying. Even a single girl can’t eat out forever. Meet a wonderful guy and you could be cooking dinner for him sometime. This is when you call into play the little black dress, cookbook, and china. Show your new beau that you’re the complete package; brains, beauty and a domestic goddess.
You can add other items to the things you need to own such as emergency money, a mobile phone, and even a good set of kitchen knives. Be sure to invest in quality items when making a purchase. You want these things to last as long as possible. Trends will come and go so be sure you’re investing in items that will stand up over time, especially if you are on a budget.
