  • Planning Your Child’s Summer

    13 Jun 2010 0 comments

For most of us, the lazy days of summer are a thing of the past. Most of us are juggling jobs! Sadly, the days of relaxing all summer and doing nothing but focusing on rest and relaxation died out with our grandparent’s generation. However, just because we adults have boring commitments and responsibilities over the summer months does not mean that our children should have to suffer. Children only get one childhood and summer time should be a time of fun and memory making.

  • Children: Chores and Allowances

    14 May 2010 0 comments

Being part of a family involves having responsibilities. The sooner children learn this, the better. On that note, many parents ask themselves if children should be given chores. The general consensus is: Yes! Giving children age appropriate chores teaches them to be responsible. It also helps them to see how important they are in the family and how their contributions help everyone. When deciding upon chores you should keep your children’s abilities in mind and not just their ages. Some children may not be mature enough to handle particular chores – while other children may be mature enough to be given very important household responsibilities.

  • Why Your Kids Need to Exercise and How to Get Them to Do It

    19 Feb 2010 0 comments

Decades ago, screening children for high cholesterol and high blood pressure was fairly uncommon. Today it’s not. If you haven’t heard, many of today’s children are battling the bulge. • When Your Children Have Headlice: Treatment Options

    13 Nov 2009 0 comments

Just mentioning head lice is enough to make you feel itchy isn’t it? These pesky little creatures affect almost every child of school age at some time in their lives, and cause no end of grief for parents in the seemingly never ending battle to get rid of them. The first sign you might notice something is wrong is when your child starts scratching their scalp or neck. There might even be a rash at the nape of their neck due to louse droppings! It sounds terrible, I know - but don’t worry. They can be got rid of, but it takes time and a lot of persistence. Before we look at the various treatments available, let’s just dispel a few of the myths surrounding these pests.

  • Child Bedwetting Solutions and Advice

    30 Jul 2009 1 comment

Bedwetting, or enuresis, will affect all children at some stage in their lives. It is estimated that fifteen to twenty percent of all five and six year olds will wet the bed at some point. Making that transition from wearing nappies to being dry is a big step after all, and it takes some children longer than others. Having a few strategically placed potties around the house can be an enormous help during the day, when your child needs to get to the toilet in a hurry. Some parents let their children wander around in just a t-shirt during the day so that they don’t have to worry about pulling pants down. However, you should expect a few puddles here and there along the way until your child learns to recognise when they need to go.

  • Out and About with Twins

    30 Jul 2010 2 replies

    Hello all!

My twins are almost five months old now, and I’ve slowly learned that it isn’t always easy to get them packed up to make a trip to the store.

The other day, it took me an hour to put everything I needed into the diaper bag and get the kids into their car seats. By the time I got there, I had no clue why I decided to go to that store because I forgot what I needed to buy. I ended up walking out without buying anything.

Seeing the title you probably all think I’m pregnant - I’m not.  Although, it would be easier in this situation, ha!

    • Dad hasn’t had work now since Christmas time
    • He’s always done the whole ‘cash in hand’ thing so obviously doesn’t even have a payslip but then he’s never paid his tax or NINO
    • So no money into his NINO = no state pension
    • His…

Oh dear the ‘doo doo’ has hit the fan big time here..

Our foster child and her family have upset OH to the point that even my friend asked if he was ok she said he looked as if he were going to blow a fuse!

Let me explain OH is hard working and believes that if you can work you should. Children should go to school, study, have routine and get themselves ready for the real world..
He believes in family values and respect..
