UV Sunglasses

I was talking to a friend at work today who said that cheap sunglasses are the worst thing for your eyes as some of them dont have uv protection. She sad that the sunglasses allow your pupils to dilate as it makes everything appear darker, which is bad for your eyes as more UV light then gets in if the sunglasses dont have uv protection. So basically no sunglasses are better than cheap ones.

This has me worried as I am always buying cheap sunglasses. Has anyone heard of this?

    No, I hadn’t

All sunglasses I have bought (£5.99 from Tesco’s usually lol) have had a little sticker on the lens with ‘UV protection’ written.

Hmmm…I will be interested to hear more on this if anyone knows

I had never heard of this before, but as long as the glasses come with the UV protection sticker on I am sure they are fine. Well, unless you buy them for 50p from some street trader!

If they dont have UV protection, I guess it makes sense they will be worse for your eyes that no protection at all – based on what you said at least.
