Oops, I just saw this thread now. Sorry I didn’t welcome you here yet! Let’s change that…

A big welcome to you, Denise! πŸ™‚ Glad you’ve joined us, and hope you find your way around well despite our current issues with functionality. I pop into the monthly thread the most, then also put in regular and strange holidays into the Weird Holidays…[Read more]

  • Thanks for letting me know about the Christmas forum!

I try to do something to count down Christmas on the 25th of each month. Not only do I pay better attention to the time passing that way, but I can get a little Christmas music/movie without having to wait for November and then cram it all in by the end of December. πŸ˜‰

  • Good job, Denise! I find it hard to resist, but my body complains in various ways about higher sugar intake and chocolate. Need to encourage myself to think about smaller portions of treats and less often if possible. Don’t want to be addicted to sugar!

  • I love collecting free books – either library discards or neighbourhood free boxes. I need to read more of what I collect, though, or they’ll just be a dust trap…

  • Is there really a forum just about Christmas? Does it get much conversation throughout the year? I love Christmas!

  • That sounds delicious, Denise!

I was actually out of fish last night, so I made an omelet instead. Must remember to put fish on the grocery list!

Tonight will be sandwiches. I like easy weekend dinners (unless someone else cooks for me – then it can be more complicated LOL).

  • Even having to travel for vision assessments can be a bit of a nuisance, since we have regular optometrists here but have needed to go farther for things our optometrists can’t check. If we were living in a larger city, there would be something much closer and our costs overall would go down for medical needs.

  • I agree, Jen. We’re missing our like and quote options right now, and I don’t have my handy New Posts link at work, so I’m going to use the links in the email notifications I get, plus the Recent Discussions sidebar… That should keep me in the know, but if I miss something, send me a message (if that’s working) or pop into the monthly thread to…[Read more]

  • I just finished an excellent book recently. I thinky that even adults could enjoy it, especially if you have any interest in whales, the Deaf community, or radios. That’s an odd combo, eh? But Lynne Kelly makes it work in Song for a Whale. I loved it! πŸ˜€

  • Hi, Noeleena! I believe I’ve seen you on the other forum we’re talking about: womenonlyforum. I found it after Cassandra mentioned it in conversation, then more of us started hanging out there after recent problems here. Now we’re both here and there! πŸ™‚

  • I returned a phone call about a transfer to housing in another city, but now I have to wait – the person won’t be in the office today, so it might be Monday or Tuesday until I hear more. If the timing works out, there would be a lot more accessible services for special needs treatments. I’ll try to get info from my younger sister about the cost of…[Read more]

  • Yum, stew! Need to learn how to make some!

I’ll have fish for Friday night dinner. Last night was a spaghetti dinner from the church, but I made a ham wrap to go with the Caesar salad. (Boo to white wheat pasta being the norm!)

  • I would like that if I saw the button for it. Of course, now I’m thinking of Weird Al’s “Fat” as well. Hee hee!

Last night while doing my online volunteering, I listened to Josh Groban’s Bridges CD. Love it!

  • A couple of silly boys changing stories they’re reading – because apparently they’re not goofy or witty enough already?

  • I think it’s a soup and sandwich day. Just gotta make sure we have all the ingredients!

  • We’re planning to go out this morning to fetch floral arrangements for Mother’s Day (tomorrow). Once we have them, we’ll deliver one to my mum, along with gifts.

Other than that, the day is open for puzzle-building, reading, and other relaxing activities. πŸ™‚

  • Library conference finished! Since it’s virtual, I have access to the sessions I didn’t get to attend live or catch up on during the week. I’ll try not to take too long to soak that all in, and then it can percolate in my brain as I move on to other things!

Also got one kid to the dentist today, and I was the fun mum who rewarded everyone for the…[Read more]
