I would have realised it was ‘Womens; day’ as they put the ‘Suffragette’ film on TV, but I see it as a little patronising too! Although I would not class myself as a feminist I can get very rebellious at times. In our houseold, although things tend to be naturally shared, it is more by ability and opportunity rather than gender so either of us…[Read more]

  • An interesting question as, looking at both your answers, I see a lot in common. I think personality is easier judged by someone else rather than myself, but like to think of myself as open, caring and organised. I too love people, animals and nature but can be very dis-organised  if things get on top of me, For someone who can be obsessive too I…[Read more]

  • In a good way or bad? :/

  • I watch the Sewing Bee too as well as programs like ‘Masterchef’ and the Pottery Throwdown. Some of these programs give me ideas and inspire me to do things.

When I think, I am really thankful that I spent most of my working life in a very much equal occupation. There was an underlying male bias from the head of department but, in general women were pretty equal as there were good examples at much higher rank. No man could be openly biased for long! The trouble with inequality is that things oscillate…[Read more]

Thank you for the link Test. I see email notifications can be set in ‘settings’ on my profile Mikki. I don’t check emails that often but usually follow the notification at the top right of the page alongside the ‘Howdy’ welcome message. A little circle with ‘0’ in it which changes to ‘1’ if a message is sent to me or mention has been made of me in…[Read more]

I paint and draw. I am also good at very technical and scientific things too and like research so I tend to pickup new things along those lines faster than most (both male as well as female), but I keep things low key.

  • I am with Mollypops here. Working in healthcare the social side was best and the writeups worst. Having to travel lots of miles was not good though. Having to often travel several hundred miles a week was tiring.

That’s not good Cassandra. I have come across many bad comments made by health professionals but they are mainly between staff not to patients.

  • It’s not something I have done for years now, but at least for many, a natural, even intinctive, thing to down particularly amongst teenagers. Obviously it would likely create offense on a crowded beach but I find it amusing in quieter places. Perhaps a little jealous even, a part of me wishing to join in.

I am glad you go home dry Mikki. When I was working in the community I had those issues all the time. I remember one time a level crossing was closed, even to pedestrians, and the house I was visiting was within view just the other side, I had to go round ten miles or more to come from the other direction. Yet another time I came across a closed…[Read more]

I have not had that problem for a week or two but it does occasionally happen. I have always wondered whether it is when the site is down for mintenance as, if US based, it would maybe undergo maintenance at night there which is daytime here but I have no ideas otherwise. This sort of problem does seem to be occuring on other sites I visit…[Read more]

  • I have never seen the program at all, and from what I have heard I am not interested. It sounds a bit like ‘Eastenders’. A (soap) program in which they appear to create nasty situation after nasty situation and then yell at each other at high volume. I don’t think I have changed that much but I used to watch it years ago. Always a drama but I am…[Read more]

Hi Katie 🙂 Another welcome from the UK, It’s nice to meet you!

  • My favourite features are probably my legs. My knees are a bit knobbly as I am always neeling down , but otherwise very slender but shapely. I love to wear short skirts and dark tights which show them well. I like my nails too as they are notmally neat and tidy even though I do a lot in the garden.

  • SpinningJen replied to the topic Corona virus in the forum In the News 1 month ago

That shows how it will spread due to the time between when someone realises they have the virus rather than just flu. There are probably quite a number of irresponsible people who will still behave as normal and effectively infect other groups as well. It is perhaps only the fact that there is not a mass movement of people in poor situations which…[Read more]

There is talk of panic buying being raised now, and I wonder whether the obvious increase in customers in our local Asda when I visited yesterday was partly due to that. Perhaps it was a coincidence as it is the first week of the month and some people do shop monthly.

I do wonder what plans they have where I used to work as it was only a small…[Read more]

  • SpinningJen replied to the topic Your Doctor in the forum Health & Diet 1 month, 1 week ago

At our local surgery the doctors change regularly so, as I don’t visit very often as I am luckily pretty healthy, it is more usual to see a nurse for routine tests. Luckily also it has been a female doctor on the times I have taken my mum for appointments.

I think that I would likely be too ill to worry about gender if I needed to go.

  • SpinningJen replied to the topic Corona virus in the forum In the News 1 month, 1 week ago

From my work in healthcare I ended up with several bottles of sanitizer which I come across occasionally. Maybe I could make a few pounds lol.

In the most part people are treating things in a jokey manner, although, when I took mum to the surgery this last week for a bloodtest the technician, who had a cold, did not seem too impressed when I said…[Read more]
